Family Travel can be Fun , Believe it or not!
There’s no reason to fear the prospect of traveling this Holiday season. Whether you’re hopping in the car to drive a few blocks or taking a trans-oceanic journey to meet your special relatives or friends; the key to successful travel with children is planning.
Planning can be simple or it can be complex, the first thing you’ll want to do is to make sure that all your hotels are kid friendly and within your resources so you’re not having to worry about where your kids are or whether have the funds to stay at the particular lodging that looked so good on the internet.
After you’ve got your lodging lined up you can then concentrate on how you’re going to get there.
If feasible, check out as many ways as you can to get to your destination. There might be fun and exciting ways to get there even if it’s just around the block or a few miles away. What if you could take a taxi?
Or remember the old days when, on Thanksgiving, we all walked to Grandma’s house? Maybe your kids would like to take a long walk? Or even the bus? An adult can take the packages in a car and that will free up you and the kids to go by any means you can think of. Maybe it’s time to see if you really can ride a bike, even if it’s been 10 years since you’ve been on one.
If you’re going a long distance then your pre-planning process will be a lot different and because of the many travel limitations you’ll have a lot less choice in your travel choices. The key to success in long distance (that means airports mostly) is to get to know the places you will be spending time between planes. If you have access to a computer get online and study maps of the various airports you’ll be visiting. Learn where everything is; the bathrooms, the shops, the play areas (if any), and most importantly where you can sit quietly while you wait for your . It’s true you can find many bargain flights on the internet but make sure that the kids will be okay with your plans too. A “red eye” flight might be a bargain but will the kids be at there best at grandma’s the next day?
Family Travel can be Pleasurable, believe it or not! It just takes a little planning.
